Thing # 23

Oh my gosh! I did it? I really finished the 23 things! Its been so much fun learning new things on the computer. The best part is the sharing with each other. Our interest, our humor and even pictures of our families. It helped me get to know people in a more personal way. Also, it was fun helping each other learn and I appreciate all the help others did for me. Another important thing is, it gave me confidence with working on computers. Which will help me to help patrons at the library. This whole blog thing was a challenge for me and I loved it!

What was my favorite thing? I loved finding new things to put on my blog thru Flickr and the image generators. I plan on adding more things to my blog in the future. And maybe just maybe, I will continue beyond the 23 things.

Thing #22

I checked out Net Library and created my account under PLYMC link. There are lots of titles that I could read on the computer but I don't think I could sit in front of a computer screen reading a book. The Audio books I might use with my MP3 player. At least I learned more about using Net Library, which in turn will help patrons at the library.

Thing #21 Podcast

I enjoyed searching for different subjects in Podcastalley and Yahoo podcast and found one that I will use all of the time. Its on A Course in Miracles in Sedona Az. They have weekly podcast on different subjects with the course. Also in my searching for library things, I found one on book reviews. which could be used for librarian reference. I put a few RSS feeds for podcast into my blogline account. There is lots of information out there and podcast is one of the most interesting ones to find. Its like picking your own radio talk station anytime you want.

Thing #20

The reason I choose the YouTube video on the Four Agreements is, its one of my favorite books. The Four Agreements are: Don't take things Personal, Don't make assumptions, Be Impeccible with your Word and Do your Best. It has helped me with my life and relationships with people. So I choose this video to show people what this book is about and that maybe it will help them also. I enjoyed exploring different video's on YouTube. As far as using it for the library, it could be used to explain things to employees, like new things on the computer. Or maybe even Mr. Sears talking to all of us on a video. Or even talking about favorite books or new books on a video. Its a great way to communicate ideas!

Thing #19

This is really cool music site. You can choose the singer and make your own radio station. Bet you can't guess which male singer I made a radio station with? Check out Pandora.

Here are some of my favorite oldie games, I love to play Tetrix 2 and Splatman from Arcaplay. These are all from Web 2.0 awards. I am enjoying exploring all of the best sites in Web 2.0.

Thing # 18 continuted

Well look there, my letter I wrote in Zoho is appearing on my blog. I guess I did something right!

ZOHO WRITER

Thing # 18

This is my first time using Zoho Writer. So I am just experimenting with it. I find it very easy to use. Also, I think I will use this in the future for writing and a journal. Or even writing a letter to someone and printing it out or emailing. As I have been exploring Zoho, I just found all of the Templates in the Template Library. There are forms that my son can use for his business. And I found forms that my church might want to use in the future.

Its been so much fun working on my blog and soon it will come to a end. I hope that in the future, the library will have more challenges to work on, to learn more things on the computer.

So now I will try to send this to my blog. Lets see if I can figure this one out?

Signed,

The Wabbit

Thing 16 & 17

Wiki for libraries are sure a fast way to find information on books or any subject. I found SJCPL Subject Guide the most interesting. It had a menu of subjects to choose from like cooking and photography. Its very similar to our library online catalog search. It would direct you to books in this library. Only thing with wiki is there is no control in the information that is put into Wiki. So how correct is this information? But I can use Wikipedia in the future for suggestions or information on things I am searching about.

PBWiki was really interesting. I could see how groups of people can take ideas in one place and share them with each other. Like the Learning 2.0 Wiki Sandbox PLCMC , where we could post ideas on favorite things and share them with our Library friends. I added my blog site to the PLCMC which was a lot easier than I thought.

Things #14 & 15

Technorati is blowing my mind. I signed up with Technorati and claimed my blog and tagged it into PLCMCL2. I found my blog under PLCMCL2 with a few others that did a claim from our library. Also I did all the searches to see what is different in Learning 2.0 blog posts, in tags and blog directory. Didn't find any blog directory in PLCMCL2. The blog posts are just people posting in Technorati about learning 2.0 or other things. Its a good way to share information under a certain tagged subject.

I read Library 2.0 perspectives on #15 and seemed to be a little to intellectual for me. Of course I am not a librarian and it may be helpful to them. The main ideas I found is, technology is growing at a fast speed. Library 2.0 has showed me how many new things are out there on the web. And I never even knew about them until working on the 23 things. Probably in a few years all of these things will be outdated and there will be more things to learn. I can see how the library's have to change with all of this new technology.

Thing #13

Del.icio.us .com really does not interest me. But I did listen to the tutorials and read the information to learn about it. I guess what turned me off on Del.icio.us was having to install buttons on my toolbar. Which I probably would never use. I don't want to become a computer zombie again. Yes, I was there once and had to use a 12 step program to help me with my addiction. Just kidding! I did learn about Tags and Bookmarks. Tags are like Keyword on AOL, a one word description to type in and it gets you to what you are searching. I could make my links from my favorite places on AOL or IE a bookmark and then tag them to share with others. But at this time I am not interested.

Thing #12

My gosh, its 3:17 AM and I am still up working on this Blog. But I figured out this Rollyo thing. I am registered and have my search engine up on my blog. It took me forever but I figured it out. Its a good thing to have and it will make it easier for searching on the web. Finished, done with #12 and Good Night!

Thing #11

Librarything.com is a very helpful site to list all of my books that I own. Its pretty cool to be able to have a inventory list of some of my favorite books on my bookshelves. They are all listed on my blog for a quick reference.

Thing #10

Can you believe I met Paul McCartney in Starbucks? And I actually made it on front of a magazine cover with Paul! I am so excited that I am still floating on cloud 9! That was the fun of working on #10. I can fantasize and make my own dreams come true, right on my blog. The Image Generators have been my favorite learning tools so far.
